One of the first people I met after moving to Dallas was Will (DJ Sober), we were talking music one day when he enthusiastically volunteered his favorite local band, Burning Hotels. I tucked this away in a corner of my brain; I feel like I have very little room for new bands with so much old music to catch up on already. Cut to four months later and I am at some warehouse west of downtown and this four-piece band felt so out of place in there. They were incredible. After 30 seconds, my girlfriend and I asked a bystander “who is this?” and with a stare reserved for aliens and idiots, we were told, “the Burning Hotels.” I will feel cool when I’m old, looking back, and realize they let me do a remix.
